Champions Show the Way
For the past four and a half years I had been a Relaxation Therapy/Meditation Champion with Champions Show the Way. It is a nonprofit organisation that is part of the NHS which provides activities for the local community in the Bradford area. The activities are for individuals that have long term health issues and for people that have been discharged from hospital and require reintegration back into activities. The activities include Health Walking, Arts & crafts, Singing, Family History, Teas and Talking.
I have provided guided Relaxation Therapy Classes to groups of people in Sheltered Housing a Care Home and at a Dr's Medical Centre. I received excellent feedback from the participants on how the Relaxation Therapy classes has helped there over all well being. I also provided guided sessions at St Michael's Church community in Bradford.
I continually evolved my sessions to adapt to the participants requirements.
I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxation classes; they provided me with a sense of achievement and I felt that I was putting something back into the community to assist individuals with their Health & Well Being.
I now will be providing my services on an ad hoc basis for Champions Show The Way.
What is a Community Health Champion?
A Community Health Champion is a volunteer who is aged 18+. They are supported by a dedicated programmed team and receive training and one-to-one support as well as support from fellow Community Health Champions. This enables them to develop and lead activities in their community that benefits the health and well-being of participants.
Check out the "Relaxation Therapy" page to see what Cathy provides in her sessions. The sessions are not just about relaxation - they include many elements of Mindfulness and Meditations.
